Sony Japan announced today a new CD-RW drive with the codename "CRX195A1". The drive supports 40x writing, 12x re-writing, 48x reading, 2MB buffer and "Power-Burn" buffer-underrun protection. Sony said drive expected to hit Japanese market around 20th of April.

As it seems the drive is based upon LiteOn LTR-40125W , and probably would become the first P-CAV recorder at this high recording speed . Yamaha is expected to follow around middle of May with their next P-CAV recorder.
