Faster User Switcher
What it is: With Fast User Switching enabled on Windows XP, this PowerToy allows you to switch users without having to use the logon screen.
Setup steps: NOTE: This PowerToy requires a Windows key Use the Windows key and Q and hold to activate, press Q to switch to a different user tile, then release both Q and Windows key to switch to that user.
Location: System directory
Uninstall: Open task manager and kill all instances of "Fast.exe." Then open the Add/Remove programs and choose the uninstaller for this app.
Shell Player
What it is: This PowerToy plays MP3 files and WMA files from the taskbar.
Setup steps: Right click on the taskbar, click toolbars, then click "Audio Player." If the taskbar is locked and you want to resize the player, you will have to unlock it. This will allow you to access the play list editor and view all the buttons.
Location: System directory
Uninstall: Open task manager and kill explorer.exe. Then open the Add/Remove Programs and chose the uninstaller for this app.
Task Switcher
What it is: Replaces the existing Alt + Tab application switching mechanism of Windows XP. It provides a thumbnail preview of windows in the task list and is compliant with the new Windows XP visual style.
Setup steps: (NOTE: You must log off and then log on again for the changes to take effect). Use just as you do the existing Alt + Tab mechanism by pressing the Alt key and the Tab key to activate. While holding down the Alt key, press the Tab key to cycle through running applications. To move backwards, press Shift + Alt + Tab. Release all keys when the desired application is highlighted.
Location: The installation program will copy the executable, TaskSwitch.exe, to the %windir% system32 directory.
Uninstall: Open Add or Remove Programs and choose the uninstaller for this program. Then you will need to log off and log in for the orginal Alt + Tab to be restored.
IE Find Toolbar
What it is: This PowerToy makes Internet Explorer's find dialog accessible as a toolbar. This allows searches on the current page without a floating dialog.
Setup steps: After installation, right click on Internet Explorer's Toolbar to add the toolbar.
Location: %windir% system32
Uninstall: Go to Add/Remove Programs and chose the uninstaller for this app.
Open Command Window Here
What it is: This PowerToy adds an "Open Command Window Here" context menu option on file system folders. This gives users a quick way to open a command window (cmd.exe) pointing at a selected folder in the Explorer UI.
Setup steps: After installation, right click on the folder you would like to have a quick launch command window for.
Location: n/a
Uninstall: Go to Add/Remove Programs and chose the uninstaller for this app.
Tweak UI
What it is: Provides UI for system settings that are not exposed in the Windows XP default UI.
Setup steps: Open the Control Panel and double click the "Tweak UI" icon.
Location: %windir% system32 tweakui.cpl
Uninstall: Delete the tweakui.cpl file.
PowerToy Calc
What it is: Graphing calculator
Setup steps: Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, PowerToy Calc
Location: C: windows system32
Uninstall: Open Add or Remove Programs and chose the uninstaller for this program.
Bulk Resize for Photos
What it is: Allows you to make a new, resized copy of your selected pictures in the same folder they are currently located in. You can opt to resize one or many pictures (as a batch).
Setup steps: Right click any image(s) and select Resize Pictures in the context menu.
Location: %windir% system32
Uninstall: Open Add or Remove Programs and choose the uninstaller for this program."
