有些ToolChain 可以由數據機製造商或晶片商獲得, 例如USRobotic, Netgear, Broadcom 等, 國外大廠通常會遵循GPL 規範而公開大部分原始碼, 因此只要找對了型號就能找到工具包, 除了uClibc 之外, Debian 套件也提供了跨平台的開發工具, 因此非常值得改機的網友考慮, 在國外早已流行到翻了的所謂 "窮人的NAS" - Buffalo LinkStation 或玄人志向 KURO-BOX, 採用的便是Debian
