看大家的經驗好像都是換了新的驅動程式比較不會當。

我這邊卻剛好相反，用 XP 內建的驅動程式穩得很，換了兩版雷管驅動程式，很容易當，屢試不爽。

說一下，我的是 XP 2600 + MUI。

This problem is very complex ("Infinite Loop"). Their exist many problems that can cause the "Infinite Loop".

1. Poorly implemented AGP signal interfaces that can barely do 2X, i.e., motherboard PCB layout. (signal integrity, failure to meet AGP 2.0 specification)

2. Bugs in north bridge AGP to Memory interface. (register x55 in VIA chipsets)

3. Improper support of 2nd tier AGP interface's from Graphic card companies. (Nvidia)

4. Improper support of 2nd tier AGP interface's from OS vendors. (Microsoft)

5. Inadequate support of 2nd tier AGP interface's to support graphic card and OS vendors. (VIA)

6. Bugs in graphic card and OS vendors code.

以上是我在外國網站上,看到一個叫 "CodeHacker" 的人post,似乎真的提供了詳細的原因,但真偽難辨.
以下是有人整理的情況及方法,但目前仍無完全解決的辦法.

Firstly, the facts:

- This happens on all manufacturers chipsets (ALi, VIA, SiS, AMD Intel). It is NOT a chip manufacturer's fault

- This happens on all graphics card manufacturers, and seems to be limited to AGP (with very few exceptions). These have included nVidia, 3dfx, ATi and 3DLabs.

- It is limited strictly to the Windows NT Kernel, and happens about 98% of the time on windowsXP. Reports have been heard that it also happens on win2k, but it is rarer in this case.

- As of the time of writing, there is no all emcompassing fix, and finding a solution is very dependant on your system configuration.

Now...possible solutions:

- Try a different set of drivers. What works will depend on your system. If you are using an nvidia card, some report the problem to be fixed using drivers 23.XX, however, in some cases these make the problem worse! The 27.XX drivers work in a similar way, and have fixed it for some, and made it worse for others. You should try each and find which is the best for you, even if it just reduces the frequency of the errors. Of course, if you have a different card, you'll need to investigate which set is best for you.

- Install the VIA 4.37A (or latest) drivers if you have a VIA chipset, and install any of the latest drivers for your chipset if it is not VIA.

- Install the VIA latency patch (if you have a VIA chipset) (VIA晶片的人,有人真的可以解決這問題)

- Disable Fast Writes and SideBand Addressing (In both BIOS and any tweak utilities)

- Upgrade your system BIOS to the latest version.

- Reduce your desktop colour settings to 16bit colour (那...買好的顯示卡幹嘛?)

- Reduce your AGP speed to 2x (那...買好的顯示卡幹嘛?)

- Reduce your AGP aperture to 64MB or less

- Try increasing I/O voltage by one of two values in your BIOS. (我無法調,國外有人說這是大笑話,不知有人試成功嗎?)

- Try reseating your card in it's slot. Have it pushed up as far as you can without any possible damage.

- If you are overclocking..stop. If not, try reducing your bus speed.

我'當機的情況:
1.Windows media player 全營幕看 VCD 或 Mpeg4, 不定時, 從 21.81 到 27.30 都無解, 新的驅動程式好像撐比較久, 但易造成上網會當.
2.執行 Adobe premiere 編影片時,不定時, 新的比較少當
3.看網頁時,不定時, 27.20, 27.30的驅動程式開沒幾個就當了,舊的還比較穩.
4.我沒在 Windows XP 玩 Game, 所以不曉得, 國外好像多是玩 3D Game會當.

大家提一下會當的情況吧!還有大家試驅動程式的情形吧!

VIA晶片的使用者先試著安裝VIA 4in1 4.37a版吧，在下的一位朋友也是這樣解決23.xx不能用的情形，更新之後可以完整跑完3D Mark2001，華碩的Gf3 ti200，雷管23.12。

你謙虛了,這的確是一個辦法,這是國外網友 black dog 在2月10日國外討論區報告更改 ATI 8500 的情況,本來似乎成功了,但幾小時後,他又報告他的情形, 3d Mark 連續 4 hours 沒問題, 玩 Game 沒問題, 但跳出 Game 時, infinite loop show 又來了.

Status: Resolved!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok guys hears the deal, I finally tracked the bug down to a corrupt Video Rom Bios file. So to fix it I downloaded a program from www.filemirrors.com called flashradeon8500.zip which is a bios flash utility for Radeon 8500 cards. I ran a check on my Video card bios version and found that I have the official retail bios version, which is acccurate as I have an official (boxed) retail card. I first tried replacing this bios (Pal) with an NSTC version of the retail bios. I ran 3D mark and it still froze. So next I opted to try the OEM version of the Bios, which apparently drives the card at slightly lower voltages. Result: I have had 3D mark running now for the last hour without a glitch!!!! So folks its finally clear to me who is to blame for all this grief. It is the video card makers and the video card makers alone. They are shipping their cards with screwy or inappropriate bios versions. The good news for Nvidia fans is that I believe there is a similar utility for Nvidia cards. (Although I'm not sure what it is (you can try what I did and search on Google using the terms Flash bios Nvidea utility, and then search file mirrors.com for the file. Unfortunately as far as ATI are concerned, they do not want you to have this file. So just be aware that by downloading it, you may be breaking some law or other, depending on what country you are in. As for why they don't want us to have it, God alone knows... Perhaps they are terrified of actually admiting that it was they and they alone who have totally screwed up with this. In any case, just so long as you know it isn't something I am encouraging you to do. If you did decide to take that risk, just be sure (for ATI Radeon cards) that it contains a file called Flashrom.rom, as one or two don't and the utility will only work if its there. If you have XP you will also need a 98/ME bootdisk, as this program can only be run in DOS mode.

nVidia 27.40 beta driver 出來了, 對我而言,光看網頁就拼命當,只好把它打入冷宮.

PS:還有,開網頁開Outlook會當我曾經幫客戶處理過,弄了很久,後來由更換CPU獲得解決,其間Windows灌了N次,所有硬體都一樣樣的更新測試,就只剩CPU沒換,唉,每次你最不想它壞的地方,偏偏它就給你壞那裡,但很多同行都說CPU壞了最難知道因為要拆CPU下來要拔掉很多零件,所以修電腦的大都儘量不想動它(因為懶,me too^^),但我想上面的問題應該不是這問題吧,因為太多人有同樣的問題了

謝謝你的意見,主機板 bios 之前已經更新到最新, 比舊的穩很多(在發現 infinite loop 前), 但目前仍無法解決 infinite loop.
另外網頁方面, 用舊的 driver 就沒問題,只是舊的 driver 在看影片或編影片很快就掛,但新的剛好相反, 重點是不定時最氣人.
如果我真的手癢,可能會考慮調顯然卡的 bios 或更新吧!其實程式我早已下載,只是不敢試...
