Specifies whether the TCP/IP stack will attempt to perform path MTU discovery as specified in RFC 1191. The default is 1.

GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = "7FFF" hex (or 32767 decimal)
Specifies the system maximum receive window size advertised by the TCP/IP stack.

TcpMaxDupAcks = "2"
Determines the number of duplicate ACKs that must be received for the same sequence number of sent data before "fast retransmit" is triggered.

SackOpts = "1"
Enables support for selective acknowledgements as documented by Request for Comment (RFC) 2018. Default is 0.

Tcp1323Opts = "1"
Controls RFC 1323 time stamps and window scaling options. Possible values are: "0" = disable RFC 1323 options, "1" = window scale enabled only, "2" = time stamps enabled only and "3" = both options enabled.

TcpWindowSize = "7FFF" hex (or 32767 decimal)
Specifies the receive window size advertised by the TCP/IP stack. If you have a latent network you can try increasing the value to 93440, 186880, or 372300.

Change the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) Size (Windows NT/2000/XP)

This parameter specifies the Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) for a network interface. By optimizing the MTU setting you can gain substantial network performance increases, especially when using dial-up modem connections.

MTU stands for Maximum Transmission Unit and in basic terms, it defines the maximum size of a packet that can be transferred in one frame over a network.

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\[Adapter ID]]
Value Name: MTU
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: Default = 0xffffffff

Recommended Values

576 - Dial-up Connections
1492 - PPPoE Broadband Connections
1500 - Ethernet, DSL and Cable Broadband Connections

Note: For Windows NT 4 the key is [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\ Tcpip\Parameters]

Note: IP datagrams may span multiple packets. Values larger than the default for the underlying network will result in the transport using the network default MTU. Values smaller than 68 will result in the tranport using an MTU of 68.

Automatic Logon to Windows NT, 2000 and XP

Windows includes a feature that allows you to configure the computer to automatically logon to the network, bypassing the Winlogon dialog box.

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
Value Name: AutoAdminLogon
Data Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value Data: (0=disable, 1=enable)

1.Add a new string value named 'DefaultUserName' and set it to the username you wish to automatically logon as.
2.Add a new string value named 'DefaultPassword' and set this to the password for the user entered above.
3.Add a new string value named 'DefaultDomainName' and set this to the domain of the user. Ignore this value if the NT box is not participating in NT Domain security.
4.Add a new string value named 'AutoAdminLogon' and set it to either '1' to enable auto logon or '0' to disable it.
5.For Windows 2000 the additional ForceAutoLogon (http://www.pczone.com.tw/showthread.php?s=&postid=554900#post554900) setting must be enabled to stop the tweak from resetting on reboot.

Note: The password is stored in registry, which means anyone who has access to the machine has access to the password.

Note: You can bypass this function by holding down the SHIFT key during the boot or logoff process.

Note: It is also important to note that if the DontDisplayLastUserName (http://www.pczone.com.tw/showthread.php?s=&postid=554907#post554907) value is enabled, the auto logon feature does not function.

Hide the Last User Name

This setting can be used to blank the username box on the logon screen. This will prevent people that are logging on from knowing the last user to access the system.

Windows 98 or Me
Open [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon] and create new string value called "DontShowLastUser" and set it to "1" to hide the last user.

Windows 2000 or XP
Open [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System] and create a new string value, or modify the existing value, called "DontDisplayLastUserName" and set it to "1" to enable or "0" to disable the restriction.

Windows NT
Open [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] and create a new string value, or modify the existing value, called "DontDisplayLastUserName" and set it to "1" to enable or "0" to disable the restriction.

Fix Problem with Athlon Hanging AGP Programs (Windows 2000/XP)

Windows may stop responding when you use an Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) program with an AMD Athlon processor. This is due to the memory allocated by the video adapter driver becoming corrupted.

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
Value Name: LargePageMinimum
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: 0xffffffff (4294967295 decimal)

Note: This behavior is known to occur with Nvidia GeForce 256 and Matrox G400 video adapters on computers with AMD Athlon processors. This behavior is not specific to any particular video adapter type.

System Board and Memory Optimizations (Windows 95/98/Me)

These settings allow you to optimize the AGP and PCI buses along with the system memory by reducing the number of wait states (idle time).

System Key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\BIOS]
Value Name: PCIConcur, FastDRAM, AGPConcur
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: 1 = reduce wait states

To decrease the PCI bus wait states create a new DWORD value called "PCIConcur" and set it to "1".

To decrease the AGP bus wait states create a new DWORD value called "AGPConcur" and set it to "1".

To decrease the DRAM memory wait states create a new DWORD value called "FastDRAM" and set it to "1".

Note: Wait states are periods when the CPU or bus remain idle to allow other system components to catch-up. Therefore decreasing the wait states reduces the amount of time the CPU or bus stays idle.
