兩者展頻方式不同, 802.11b 為 DSSS 設備, 不相容於 802.11 FHSS; 您若要以 802.11b 來取代 802.11, 則 AP 與網卡通通要更換, 但我不保證您的自動化的無人搬運車能夠辨識啟用 802.11b 的網卡; 因為在 802.11 的時期, 有些網卡是以 ISA 為介面, 甚至驅動程式有 DOS 版的; 但是 802.11b 很少有 ISA 頁面, 也僅有少數有 DOS 的 packet driver 驅動程式..
